The lens is a cheapo Sigma EX 19mm f/2.8 that does amazing job at a great price of $100. I set shutter priority with 1/60 sec, f/5.6 I think, and auto-iso on my small NEX camera. On second attempt with my younger boy, I changed to auto-mutli-point and continuous shot with shutter priority. ![]() And because I swung myself left and right and tried to aim at my boy in front of me, I lost my beloved LCD hood protector on my travel camera with NEX 5N. I might have done 20 shots on the 1st ride and none got into focus. I went with my older boy earlier and I shot my regular mode with a single shot central point. ![]() I was riding the Gilory Garden Theme Park on a Mushroom Swing. Hence, was wondering if it was really worth buying Sigma 19mm when focal length/aperture (f8) I plan to use is very much covered by the kit lens. But then when I was looking at Sigma 19mm, suddenly realized that I have a kit lens too which covers needed range/aperture and also offers OSS which Sigma doesn't. I then got 5n and kept the kit lens thinking that I will sell it along with one of those older bodies. When I got my NEX5 & NEX3, I sold the kit lenses immediately and was using nex exclusively with MF lenses+lensturbo. To give you a little background, I never used kit lens. However, 19mm is a different story which I plan to use it at smaller apertures only. ![]() Again, this very personal & subjective observation and clinically there is nothing wrong in that lens. I mostly shoot people/street (some of my pics here ) & used it for portraits/streets Too be honest, I didn't find any character in that lens, pictures even though sharp, turned out a bit flat lacking that 3D quality I get out of my 31/f1.8 and 30/1.4. The reason I said I don't like 30mm is very different. That would be great, thanks a lot in advance.
